Excessive Heat Warning issued for Sunday

NOTTINGHAM, MD – The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the Nottingham area.

The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Heat index values on Sunday will reach 110 to 115 degrees due to temperatures in the upper
90s and dewpoints in the mid-70s.

Dangerously high temperatures and humidity could quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke if precautions are not taken.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously high temperatures will occur. The combination of extreme temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are expected. Check in on relatives and neighbors.



Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
