Middle River shooting suspect identified

MIDDLE RIVER, MD – The suspect in a shooting on Kingston Road in Middle River on Monday night has been identified.

Marquis Devonn Warren Matthews, 42, of the 2600-block of Vailthorn Road (21220) has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/violent crime.



Matthews is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing.

Officers responded to a call for a shooting in the 100-block of Kingston Road at around 11 p.m. on Monday night and found a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body that caused a life-threatening injury.

He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Police say Matthews and the victim had an ongoing, personal dispute that culminated with the shooting.
