UPDATE: The victim, a 23-year-old-man, sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Police believe this was a targeted shooting and that there is no ongoing threat to the general public.

CARNEY, MD – Police are on the scene of a Friday afternoon shooting in Carney.

The shooting was reported at just after 2:30 p.m. on Shawnee Court (21234).

The victim was reportedly shot in the neck and suffering from arterial bleeding.

K-9 units are responding as is an aerial unit.
