Water rescue in progress in Middle River

UPDATE 2: Marine Emergency Team 21 rescued the victims from the water and stabilized one patient who was experiencing a medical emergency from the rough conditions. That individual has been taken to Dundee Creek Marina for treatment by EMS personnel.

UPDATE: All six kayakers have been successfully rescued.

MIDDLE RIVER, MD – Fire crews are performing a Saturday afternoon water rescue in Middle River.

At about 4:30 p.m. units responded to the 7400-block of Graces Quarters Road near the Hammerman Beach area in Chase after 6 kayakers became stuck in stormy waters.

There has been no word on any injuries.

Residents should avoid the water until the storms pass.
