Special Olympics torch run to pass through Parkville on Thursday

PARKVILLE, MD – The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics will take place Thursday, June 6, at 10:15 a.m.

This will mark 33 years of Baltimore County Police participation in the event.

The Baltimore County Police Department is dedicated to raising money for and awareness of the Maryland Special Olympics.

The Special Olympics torch will be carried by both officers and Special Olympics athletes.

More than 50 runners will line up for the three-mile run that starts at Harford Hills Elementary School in Parkville/Carney and ends at the Public Safety Building in Towson.

The runners and other participants will then enjoy a cookout.

Police in Baltimore County have raised thousands of dollars over the years to support the Maryland Special Olympics.
