Police investigating overnight shooting in Essex

shooting-news-graphicPolice in Baltimore County are investigating a shooting that occurred in Essex overnight.

Detectives were able to determine that the shooting took place in the 1300-block of Sugarwood Circle (21221) after the victim walked into MedStar Franklin Square Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers initially responded to a 911 call for shots fired at about 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday.  Police then went to the hospital after the victim, a 23-year-old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the lower body, arrived at the emergency room at just before 1 a.m.

Detectives connected the two calls, and are still investigating to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
