Teacher assaulted at Loch Raven High School

AssaultUPDATE 2: An 18-year old student has been arrested and charged with assault.

UPDATE: Per Councilman David Marks, the following letter has been sent to parents and guardians of students at Loch Raven High School:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’m writing to inform you of an incident that occurred today at Loch Raven High School.

This morning, a situation occurred between a student and a staff member. Our school resource officer was immediately notified and requested additional police assistance. As a result, several emergency vehicles arrived at school to assist with handling the situation.
At no time were students in danger and there was no disruption to the instructional day.



Because of the number of emergency vehicles that arrived at the school, we are sharing this information with our community so you are aware of the incident. Please be assured, the type of behavior exhibited by the student today will not be tolerated. In addition to legal consequences, the school has taken appropriate disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Handbook.

The safety and security of students and staff is a top priority of Loch Raven High School and the Baltimore County Public Schools. Thank you for your support of our Loch Raven High School community.

Police say a teacher was assaulted at Loch Raven High School on Tuesday morning.

A student reportedly initiated the altercation by punching the teacher in the face, according to police.

Officers responded to the school at just after 8:30 a.m.

Contrary to rumors circulating online, police say there were no weapons used during this altercation.

Both the teacher and the student sustained minor injuries.

Police have not released any additional information at this time.
