Retired Middle River man snags winning $50K Md. Lottery scratch-off

MD LotteryA retired Baltimore County construction worker can begin laying the groundwork for his next Maryland Lottery win after topping off his latest project – unearthing a winning, $50,000 scratch-off.

The 69-year-old managed the feat while scratching off a $500 Frenzy scratch-off he asked a family member to purchase last week.

The loyal player said the excitement began as he finished playing his instant tickets while watching TV. The first spot on his last $5 game, the $500 Frenzy, matched a winning number to reveal a $50,000 prize.

Hesitant to celebrate, the Middle River man got a family member to help him confirm what he was seeing.

The lucky winner said he plans to share the funds with family and use a portion to fund some personal construction projects around his home.

The Lottery retailer that sold the winning scratch-off, Compass Express Beer Pump Wine and Spirits, is also in a “frenzy.” The store located at 3 Compass Road in Middle River will earn a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the $50,000 top prize.
