In the wake of recent revelations, the Baltimore County Council is taking matters into their own hands.
On Wednesday, Baltimore County Council Chairman Julian E. Jones Jr. released a letter addressed to the Maryland General Assembly.
In the letter, the Baltimore County Council requests that the State Legislative Auditor conduct an independent audit of the Baltimore County Public Schools’ no-bid contracts with education technology
firms.
“Although I continue to have the utmost respect and confidence in Mrs. Verletta White’s leadership of the Baltimore County Public Schools as interim Superintendent, we must ensure that the funds we appropriate to the school system are properly spent,” said Jones.
The letter requests that the audit cover the period from 2012 through 2017.
Former Superintendent S. Dallas Dance was indicted on perjury charges last week, which arose from his Financial Disclosure Statements for 2012, 2013, and 2015.
The letter released on Wednesday can be found below.
