Police have identified the suspect in Friday night’s double stabbing in Kingsville.
At about 10 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to the 8000 block of Redstone Road (21087) for a report of a stabbing. One of the victims reported that he and his wife were stabbed by their son.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the suspect’s father suffering from a wound to his upper body. The man said that he was asleep while sitting in a reclining chair when he was stabbed by his son. The mother stated that she heard noises and came into the room. She was also stabbed by her son when she came into the room, suffering a wound to the upper body.
The suspect had fled the home but officers were able to locate the man and place him under arrest. Both victims were taken to a local hospital and were later released after medical treatment.
The suspect has been identified as Michael Joseph Cottone, 27, of Kingsville. Cottone has been charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.
He is being held on denied bail status.
