Nottingham man nabs winning $30K Md. Lottery scratch-off

Nottingham Scratch Off Winner 20170824A good deed paid off with a $30,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off prize for one Nottingham man, who often buys instant tickets while running errands for his grandfather.

The happy 21-year-old winner claimed the first top prize on the $3 Ca$hingo game. Calling himself “Saint Casanova,” a nickname from his college days, the winner said days passed after his lucky purchase at Wawa #8504 in Halethorpe. The winning game was one of several scratch-offs he bought that day.

“I don’t play them right away,” said the recent college graduate. And, when “Saint Casanova” did sit down to play the games, he didn’t realize he had scratched his way to a top-prize win.

“Nothing immediately popped out,” said the Baltimore County resident. “So, I just waited until the next day to check it again.”

“Saint Casanova” took the Ca$hingo scratch-off to a Lottery retailer to scan the game. The message told him to see the cashier, who in turn informed the lucky player that he won $30,000 and had to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The winner immediately called his aunt, who is familiar with the Lottery claiming process, to see what to do next. Following her advice, he waited a week to make sure he had everything he needed in order to claim the big prize.

A happy and calm “Saint Casanova” claimed the prize with his aunt and two cousins. He plans to save his winnings for a rainy day.

His lucky Baltimore County retailer also shares in the big win. Wawa #8504 located at 3716 Washington Boulevard in Halethorpe earns a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize $30,000 scratch-off.
