New speed humps were completed along Ridge Road in southern Perry Hall/Nottingham on Friday.
Councilwoman Cathy Bevins says that a resident had requested traffic calming measures for Ridge Road in March of last year, but the road didn’t qulaify.
That led Councilwoman Bevins to pass Resolution 45-16, directing the Planning Board and the Department of Public Works to review and update the County’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program.
As a result, the county’s Traffic Calming program was significantly expanded to include streets that were previously not allowed to be considered because of their “collector” road designation.
Street designations are no longer a qualifying factor for traffic calming and approval is now based on traffic volumes and speeds, according to Councilwoman Bevins.
