Kona Ice holds Grand Opening in Carney

Kona Ice Carney Grand OpeningIt’s official.  Kona Ice is open for business.

The new snowball stand in Carney, owned by Claude & Joni Elmore, held a Grand Opening in Carney on Saturday morning.

The new shop is located at the corner of Joppa Road and Magledt Roads.

Back in November, it was announced that the iconic snowball stand had changed hands.  There has been a snowball stand at this location for six decades.

The site was once the location of My-T-Fine Snowballs

Councilman Marks had introduced legislation that would provide some certainty for snowball stand operators like the Elmores, allowing stands by right in certain zones and with some restrictions.

“This property has been eyed by developers for many years, and I applaud the Elmores for investing to improve this iconic structure,” Councilman Marks commented.

On Saturday morning, Baltimore County Councilman David Marks was on hand, as were representatives and search optimization company professionals from the Parkville Carney Business Association, Carney Improvement Association, and Spike Business Networking & Consulting.
