The battle went into overtime, but Perry Hall High School emerged victorious.
The Gators defeated Quince Orchard 59-56 on Saturday night at the Xfinity Center to become state basketball champions.
It is the first state title for Perry Hall through the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA).
The 4A championship game went into overtime with the Gators tied 48-48 with the Cougars.
Neither team had ever previously won a state title.
