A food service worker’s routine break turned into a real winner when he tried his luck playing the Maryland Lottery’s Super Crossword game. The Nottingham man, who visited Paul’s Market at 4571 Ridge Road in Nottingham to buy the $10 game, discovered what a difference one scratch-off can make.
“I purchased seven of the Super Crossword tickets and the seventh one turned out to be the lucky one,” said the Baltimore County resident. “I kept counting the words to see how much I had won, and nine words won for $10,000!”
The happy man plans to save his winnings for a rainy day.
The 62-year-old is also a jackpot chaser. He hopes his luck continues with Powerball, since the jackpot has reached a whopping $403 million for the Wednesday, Feb. 22 drawing.
“I usually only play scratch-offs, but with the Powerball jackpot this high, you have to play to win,” he said.
The popular Super Crossword game went on sale in December and still has four unclaimed $100,000 top prizes, 22 more $10,000 prizes and thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
