A 3-year-old boy who was the subject of a child abuse investigation died on Tuesday morning.

A preliminary autopsy has been done, but the results are pending further analysis by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

On January 19, police and medical personnel initially responded to a home on Glenwood Road in Essex for a report of an unconscious child.

The child, who has been identified as Cameron Anthony Blake, was initially taken to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and later transferred to The Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for treatment.

The case became a possible child abuse investigation after hospital personnel reported the child had injuries consistent with child abuse.

The case continues to be investigated by the Baltimore County Crimes Against Children Unit.
