An old, derelict shopping center is gone and a new one is set to open in Perry Hall.

The Shoppes at Perry Hall, a retail center anchored by Seasons Pizza, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week at 8833 Belair Road.

The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 18th.

The event will mark the completion of the major redevelopment project.  About half the space is already leased, according to Baltimore County Councilman David Marks.

After working with John Mazarakis, the property owner, and Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Marks was able to get bulldozers onto the rundown site in 2014.

Marks has worked diligently to revitalize downtown Perry Hall, including the Belair Road property, which used to house Regester Square, containing Seasons Pizza Express, Malina Seafood & Market, and a Fluf-N-Fold laundromat.

“One of the oldest commercial properties in northeastern Baltimore County, the retail area is in the heart of Perry Hall’s commercial revitalization district,” Marks said in 2014, according to Patch.com. “I am happy this eyesore will be eliminated on an important stretch of the Belair Road corridor.”

The Shoppes at Perry Hall will feature a sign for Downtown Perry Hall as well as new landscaping.

“I appreciate Councilman Marks’ interest in our project and the opportunity to improve this part of Perry Hall,” Mazarakis told AvenueNews.com in 2013.
