The cause of an early morning house fire in Joppa on Monday remains under investigation at this hour.
At 12:20 am, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded to a dwelling fire in the area of Raspe Lane and Philadelphia Road. Upon arrival at the scene, crews found fire showing from a single family home. A working fire dispatch was transmitted.
After a brief search, it was determined that the home was vacant. It took about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. The office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and damage is estimated at $50,000.
Philadelphia Road was closed until about 3:30 am due to fire apparatus blocking the road. Abingdon Fire Company, Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services & Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company assisted with fire operations.
