Suspect charged in connection with July 2015 Overlea murder

Kevin Isaiah SpruillBaltimore County Police have charged a suspect in connection with a July, 2015, homicide on Emelia Woods Court in Overlea.

Kevin Isaiah Spruill, 22, has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.



Just after midnight on July 24, 2015, police were called to the Unit block of Emelia Woods Court, 21206, for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 27-year-old Travis Bryan Durant sitting in a white, 2004 Buick LaSabre, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Durant was taken to Franklin Square Hospital where he died.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Durant lived at the Emelia Woods Court home with his girlfriend. He had also recently started a relationship with another woman who had a child in common with Spruill. On the evening of July 23, Durant had been at the home of the woman with whom he recently started a relationship. After arriving back on Emelia Woods Court, he encountered Spruill who shot him multiple times.

This incident remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit.
