Police respond to overnight shooting in Carney

UPDATE: Police now report that a local resident shot a burglar who broke into his home.

Update from the Baltimore County Police Department:

At 2:26 a.m., police responded to the 2300 block of Harford Hills Road 21234 for a shots fired call. When officers arrived on the scene, they met with a man who told them that he just shot an intruder.

The initial investigation into this incident has indicated that the man was at home when the suspect kicked in his front door and stated “I’m in your house. I’m coming to get you”. The man then armed himself with a handgun in and closed the door to the room he was in. The suspect kicked in the door to the room, and the man, fearing for his life, shot the suspect multiple times and fled from the home.



Officers located the suspect in the man’s home and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The suspect faces charges in connection with this incident but has not been officially charged yet. The actions of the victim will be reviewed by the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office when the police investigation is complete.

The incident remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.

Police in Baltimore County responded to a shooting overnight in Carney.

At just before 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Harford Hills Road for a report of shots fired.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found one individual who had been shot.

Serious injuries have been reported. There is no word on any possible suspects in the case.
