Boy critical after Essex hit-and-run

A 5-year-old boy was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Essex on Saturday evening.

Just before 6:30 p.m., Baltimore County emergency personnel responded to the 1000 block of South Marlyn Avenue near Deep Creek Middle School for a crash involving a pedestrian. The young boy, who had been crossing South Marlyn Avenue, was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

The boy was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital by Maryland State Police Medivac helicopter.



The suspect vehicle is described as a gold 1999 to 2000 GMC Yukon Denali. The vehicle should have damage to the right front grill and right front headlight area.

This crash is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Crash Team.

The 5-year-old victim remains hospitalized and is listed in critical condition.
